Book Corners
Each of our Book Corner Collections contains 30 wonderful fiction books that meet the DfE requirements. Every collection contains a mixture of classics and brand new high quality books that will capture your class’s imagination. The selections have been put together to ensure there is a balance of funny and more serious books covering a wide range of themes and representations of different backgrounds and cultures. We have read every book that is included in our collections and know that your and your children will love reading them!
There are three collections for each year group with the intention that books can be updated and rotated each term. We recommend that some books are displayed facing outwards and that the display is tweaked weekly. All our books are suitable for sharing at story time and are perfect for hearing over and over again.
These boxes are intended for use in schools and as such have a 20% discount applied to RRP.
The DfE issued new Reading Guidance in July 2021 which covers all aspects of teaching reading. One of the expectations is for each classroom to have a book corner of ‘well chosen books that capture children’s imagination’. Teachers and school leaders should be able to justify the choice of books used in both story times and in book corners. We are here to help you with a wonderful collection of carefully selected books that will support & enhance your teaching & learning.
The books shared with children should ‘elicit a strong response have a strong narrative that will sustain multiple readings, extend children’s vocabulary, have illustrations that are engaging and reflect children from all backgrounds and cultures, help children to connect with who they are and help children to understand the lives of people whose experiences and perspectives are different from their own.’
