I Spy ~ Can you continue the poem using some of the body parts suggested in the book? Try to find words that rhyme.
Zeugmas ~ can you spot the zeugmas in the poem? Can you think of other words that have more than one meaning and make them into lines in your own poem?
Monstrous Faces ~ can you make the different faces in a mirror whilst your partner reads the poem to you? Take a photo of different expressions and see if you can match them to the correct stanza. Can you draw a portrait of one of the expressions?
The Dragging Dragon ~ practise the poem until you are ready to perform in to a Year 1 class in your school. Can you draw or make some dragons to use during your performance. How will you show the children when they need to join in?
When Sadness Comes ~ can you act out the different ideas the poet has for finding a smile when they feel sad? What do you do when you are feeling down?

Memories of Smiles ~ are the memories in the poem about receiving grand gifts? Each memory is about something small. What are your happiest memories? Can you create a poem of four of your favourite memories?
I Woke Up With a Smile ~ what is a rondel? Can you create a rondel about your own dreams?
