The Reading Challenge ~ UKS2

£980.00

Our Reading Challenges have been carefully put together to stretch able readers and to encourage all children to read widely. As teachers, many of us will have wonderful memories of the first books we really loved & they will forever hold a special place in our hearts. These collections are designed to guide children towards discovering their own precious books.

The books we read as children help shape the adults we will become. They become part of us and teach us things about the world we haven’t yet experienced. We are transported to magical worlds and richly created atmospheres of countries we haven’t yet visited. Through wonderful tales of exceptional characters we learn loyalty, kindness, courage and determination. We experience emotions of love, fear & joy through the eyes of other people. These books have been carefully crafted by incredibly talented writers and chosen by us because they are the very best in children’s literature.

The updated Reading Guidance (2023) seeks to encourage children to read broadly and to ensure access to a range of genres at an appropriate level go challenge and interest.

“Teachers should also be wary of restricting pupils to reading books from within one coloured level or band and labelling pupils as being on a specific colour.”

There are 142 books in this collection divided into 13 genres: Fantasy, Adventure, Mystery/Spooky, Classics, Non-Fiction, Poetry, Our World, Historical Fiction, Emotional/Ethical, Non-Linear, Funny, Graphic Novels and Twisted Tales.
